I Write

My favorite genre of creative writing is poetry. I grew up listening to my mother read Shel Silverstein poems to my brother and I as though they were bedtime stories. I wrote a considerable amount of poetry in my AP Literature class in high school. One of these poems was even published. However, I merely received a grade on many of these poems and the verbal or written feedback was very limited. I hope to gain feedback in this class that will better my poetry skills. In my free time, I am a songwriter. In my eyes, songs are merely poems put to music. The two go hand in hand. If one can become a good poet, they could also become an excellent songwriter. I hope to one day become an excellent songwriter, and I hope this class can help me in reaching that goal.
